Katie Gage

I am indie author living in East Texas with my two cats and one husband. I’ve been writing since I was about three years old, when I dictated my first story to my mother to transcribe. I spent my childhood playing pretend, and like a true eldest sibling, domineering all games and insisting upon my complicated lore. I wrote down the stories I created, littering my room with half-finished novels, including one that was essentially “A Little Princess” with slight modifications. I still have the legal pad somewhere, filled with abysmal spelling and even worse handwriting.

Like most writers, I was a reader first, and I still spend much time lost in books. I read mostly fantasy, with occasional sprinklings of sci-fi or romance. I love cozy fantasy, but I also love epic fantasy, and I especially love fairy tale retellings or books with a fairy tale atmosphere. I am also a poet of spoken-word poetry, and I write poems about faith, mental health, and all kinds of relationships.

My non-word hobbies include baking (mostly pies), knitting (mostly small items like hats because I am impatient), Dungeons and Dragons (my husband is an excellent GM), cosplay (mostly Star Wars) and annoying the cats (don’t all cat owners do so?).

• When forced to leave the house, I work in Christian Ministry and childcare, and I haunt the local coffee shops and library. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t hate the outdoors, and enjoy a scenic hike from time to time. It is truly the greatest blessing and joy to share my stories with the world, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do--but that might be hard, because I love each and every one of them with my whole heart.
